How Do You Change the Keywords That a
Webpage with PageRank Shows Up For?
Let's continue with the Austin Roofing website we have been talking about... because right now, his PageRank is high enough to drive him to the front page for keywords that he would find much, much more useful to his business that what he shows up for now. For instance, he shows up for 'good roofing' but it would be more directly useful to his sales if he showed up for austin tx roofing and austin roofing, roofing austin, and roofing austin tx (this is because those are keywords that are searched by his prospects, and other websites are showing up for them... but not him. Not yet, that is.)
Of course, there are several changes he can make to his webpage to show up for what he needs, but the singlemost important change he can make is this: make sure to include the right words in his 'page title tag.' That is, he should change:
<title>All Good Roofing & Additions</title>
to anything like this:
<title>Austin TX Roofing: All Good Roofing & Additions</title>
or this:
<title>Austin TX Roofing | All Good Roofing & Additions</title>
or this:
<title>All Good Roofing & Additions - Serving the greater Austin, TX area</title>
Anything like that should do it, and when Google re-caches his webpage (catches up with his latest changes), he will start to rapidly rise through the ranks for the new keyword combinations. Also, this also opens him up to more total wording combinations, as well.
